• The Message: by Rev. Lowell McNaney

Lowell is the senior pastor at Crossroads UMC in Concord, NC. Lowell McNaney is a gifted speaker who combines passion, humor, story-telling, personal experiences and a little bit of craziness to proclaim the message of a radical God and His radical love. Lowell's greatest desire is to point people of all ages away from a mundane, apathetic existence and into an intimate, dynamic, friendship with the King of the Universe. This is a friendship that inspires the heart, stirs the soul, transforms lives, infuses purpose and impacts churches, schools, communities, and nations.

Lowell's heart for God's people has led him to proclaim Christ on five continents. He has spoken at venues ranging from a crusade numbering in the hundreds of thousands to a handful of bushman under a tree in a remote village, and from cathedrals and a Supreme Court Justice's home, to prisons, locker rooms, and dusty roads.
Lowell is the founding pastor of Crossroads U.M.C., an explosively growing church in Concord, North Carolina. Lowell was the 1994 recipient of the Harry Denman Evangelism Award and is the co-author of the book, Fuel For the Journey. Lowell loves watching and playing sports, photography, the outdoors, and people. He also enjoys radical activities such as triathlons, safaris, and skydiving. However, his most radical adventure is being a loving husband to his wife Jennifer and raising their three teenage daughters, Rebekah, Cassie, and Aleia.
    • The Music: by Starfield

       Starfield

Imagine traveling out one night beyond where the city lights obscure the stars.  Staring into the heavens, think about the galaxies, nebulae and supernovas that spin wildly around the universe.  Then hold up your hand and gaze at your fingers, and think about the intricate symphony of flesh, bones and other fibers that allow your fingers to move as they do.  Now think about this: one omnipotent Architect set those stars in motion and crafted your own hand -- both from nothingness. This magnificent Creator is who the Christian band Starfield wants you to worship, celebrate and adore.  Band member Tim Neufeld says: "We are most excited about leading our generation into a renewed sense of relationship with our Creator."

We welcome Starfield back to lead us in worship music at Resurrection.  Composed of brothers Tim and Jon Neufeld on vocals and guitars and drummer Gordie Cochran, Starfield knows what they want to do as musicians and what they want to do as children of God - their mission is to challenge their generation to strengthen their faith and make it their own.  Tim notes, "There's a tide within the church that I believe is changing, a new understanding of what it means to be a Christian in the post modern world. This generation is searching for identity and relevance within that structure, for a Christianity they can sink their teeth into. As Starfield, we want to write the soundtrack to that movement."

Starfield's music can be found on their self-titled debut album Starfield and their release Beauty in the Broken.  In 2003, Starfield received a Juno Award nomination (Canada's equivalent of a GRAMMY Award) and won five Vibe Awards (equivalent to the Dove Awards) for best Artist, Group, Song, Rock/Alternative Album and Worship Album of the Year.  For more information, visit their website at www.starfieldonline.com.
    • Prayer Ministry

In addition to praying generally for this ministry, you are invited to participate in three specific prayer-based opportunities available at Resurrection:  (1) the Prayer Room; (2) the Prayer Path; and (3) the classical Labyrinth

The Prayer Room is open throughout Resurrection and is in Room 12 (lower level).  The youth and adults at Resurrection are invited to join in this effort to lift up the event, its leaders and participants.  If you are interested in volunteering for the Prayer Room ministry, please contact resurrec@resurrectionyouth.com.

    • Resurrection also offers an optional Prayer Path, a Christ-centered, multi-media labyrinth experience.  Each Prayer Path participant will be provided with a CD headset which serves as a guide through ten stations.  Each station challenges you to examine an area of your faith walk. Many stations have a visual or tactile presentation. The first several stations examine your internal being; the final stations examine outward expressions. The center of the Path is a quiet time to be with God. The Prayer Path is adapted from the ancient labyrinths which have long been used as meditation experiences. This modern version is individualized and non-threatening. It is suitable for any age who can appreciate silent meditation.  Although handicapped accessible, some kneeling, sitting and standing are a part of most effectively experiencing the Path.  The experience takes about an hour.  The Prayer Path is offered in Room B (upper level) on Saturday from 8:00 am to the last admission at 10:00 pm, but will not be offered to you during your worship session times.  Space is limited and sign-ups will be taken at the Resurrection office on Friday night and at Room B on Saturday.  On Saturday, use the Airport Rd./Historic Nature Trail entrance.  For more information, contact resurrec@resurrectionyouth.com.

The classical Labyrinth is offered in Room A (upper level) during the same times as the Prayer Path.  The Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool, a winding circuitous path symbolizing a pilgrim's walk with God.  The Labyrinth's single path into and out of the center is walked in prayerful silence.  Unlike the Prayer Path, the classical Labyrinth is not a multi-media experience.  The experience takes about one hour.  Space is limited and sign-ups will be taken at the Resurrection office on Friday and at Room A on Saturday.  It will not be offered to you during your worship session times.  For more information, contact resurrec@resurrectionyouth.com.
