The Scripture:
Jesus Is… “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation”. (Colossians 1:15)
2010 will be a special year for Resurrection – it’s the 25th anniversary!
Each year over 12,000 come together to celebrate the God of The Resurrection. Through the message of a nationally-known gifted speaker and worship led by a nationally-known contemporary Christian band, young people are able to focus on the worship of the triune God in and through Jesus Christ.
For Resurrection 2010, we’ve pulled out all the stops. During this experience, you will encounter the Lord in new and deeper ways. For many people, Resurrection is an opportunity for “conversion,” “decision,” and “revival.” For others, it becomes a moment of realization that their faith needs to grow deeper and more serious. What will it be for you!?!
We invite you to come and be with us and experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ - the One who is The Resurrection and The Life.
The Message: Justin Lookadoo
Back for a second year in a row, Justin Lookadoo will lead worship at Resurrection 2010.
Throw out the word “normal” when the subject turns to author/speaker Justin Lookadoo. From the memorable name to the 6’7” Texas-size frame, to the fascinating ability he has to connect with youth, “Lookadoo” translates into one word: Original. This is obvious in the library of successful books he’s authored - most notable among them Dateable, now in its 13th printing and counting.
Just ask the thousands of readers of his witty, off-the-wall style of writing that nails reality “slab dab in the middle,” as translated in Lookadoo lingo from his native El Paso. He takes advantage of current hip and relevant cultural twists and turns in the world to show teens that biblical principals and Christian values are actually “cool” rules to live by. He noted in a recent interview: “Everything I do wraps around two themes: identity and purpose. Who am I? Why am I here? These are the challenges that face young people today.”
When the subject turns to teens and young adults, his is a rare insight into what makes today’s youth “tick.” Lookadoo is a certified specialist in the field having served as a Juvenile Probation Officer Crime & Drug Prevention Specialist. Graduating college with a pre-med degree he knew he’d never use, Justin’s career quite literally chose him. The Juvenile Probations Department, back in Texas, familiar with his growing reputation of “rubber meets the road” success as a local youth speaker, approached him for new insights on reaching kids through their crime prevention program.
Justin is an in-demand national speaker whose credibility is built on books such as The Hardest 30 Days Of Your Life, Extreme Encounters, and the Dateable franchise of books and study guides. His reach extends from middle school to college, and beyond to audiences filled with parents wanting to have insights on better communication skills with their kids. His footprint in the field as a youth author is a size 16 in influence. To learn more, check out: www.lookadoo.com
The Music: KRISTIAN STANFILL
Worship leader Kristian Stanfill is emerging as one of this generation’s most compelling singer/songwriters. He will make his first Resurrection appearance in 2010. A writer of rare insight and vulnerability, he has the unique ability to build bridges over boundary lines that separate the hurting from the Healer and create an atmosphere of worshipful unity in this too often fragmented world.
His worship songs have appeared on numerous Passion CDs including Passion: Everything Glorious CD and DVD (2006), The Best of Passion (So Far) (2007), and Passion: God of This City (2008). When he signed with sixstepsrecords for his debut project, ATTENTION, Kristian became the label’s first new artist since it’s inception in 2000.
“A great worship leader must first be a great follower,” Kristian asserts. “In order to lead people in worship you must first know how to listen to and follow the Holy Spirit. That is something I’ve been learning over the past few years, just by observing how people respond to what God is doing at any given moment.” And as a worship leader at Alpharetta, Georgia’s North Point Community Church, Kristian knows first hand the ability of worship to usher in God’s redemptive power.
